# Choose the related document type

Create and configure the main document template

## Step #1: Create the related document template

* Create and configure the main document template
* In the Doc tab of your main template, click "New related template"
* Give the template a name and choose the type of related template you want to create from the following options:

![Creating a related document template](https://content.gitbook.com/content/U1Chwyf7Cc7FN9BiEh0V/blobs/z2gomYkaI4LSS6tVMycD/28-01-creer-modele-de-document-associe.gif)

**Static**\
The related document is fixed and contains no tags. There is no main object to choose. The page can be a PDF

*Useful for adding Terms and Conditions*

**Dynamic**\
The document contains dynamic tags. In this case, the object is chosen from the main or secondary objects of the main document template

*Use it to add an appendix with dynamic information*

**Multiple**\
The document contains tags and is repeated based on the number of child objects in the main document. In this case, the object is chosen from the child objects of the main document template

*Used to display product sheets. If the main document contains a table with 5 products, the related document will be added 5 times after the main document, once for each product*

**Chart**\
The document is an Excel file containing a chart to display in the generated document

*Appendix used for an advanced account summary, for example*

* Confirm and you will be redirected to the related document template configuration
* Add additional objects as needed and the tags of your document if it is not static, then upload the related document template
* Your related template will be linked to the main template from which you created it
* Test generation from your main template: the related document is added after the first one at generation

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://university.gonexa.fr/doc/en/advanced-features/related-templates/choose-related-document-type.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
